Walk is easy material to process

Walk

Walk, Lana cotta (boiled wool), mostly made from pure wool is felted mecanically in warm water by the addition of soap.
During the production the initial material shrinks in length and width about 50 per cent.
Contrary to Loden, Walk materials are fabricated from knit and therefore remain elastic.
The natural material which lets the air through, is comfortable, hard-wearing, doesn’t show the dirt and is non creasing.

Walk is an easy material to process. The material doesn’t fray and therefore no seam finishing is required. This characteristic allows new processing possibilities, otherwise taboo in tailoring. Jackets and coats are often sewn without any lining at all.

How to care for Walk :
Usually it shrinks about 10% when washing it at a very low temperature in the washing-machine. Softwalk even shrinks up to 15-20%.
Due to this fact the material should always be washed before cutting it. After washing Walk it is pulled into form, dried and then steamed. Nevertheless, the producers suggest it should be dry-cleaned.
We are able to offer this very interesting and versatile material in many colours and thicknesses.

Jersey und knitted Material

Jersey is a fine stitch knit with a soft full hold and a good diagonal stability. There is an unbelievable variety in Cloqués, Bouclés with very interesting surfaces. The most famous defender of this material was Coco Chanel. She recognised the value and possibilities of Jersey immediately and made this material, formerly only known for its every day use, fit for society. Jersey is stretchable but still keeps its form. It is easy to handle and very smooth on the skin. The processing is easy, therefore sewing-beginners find the material most suitable to start with.
We are extremely proud of being able to offer a wide range of Jersey and knit fabrics in our shop.
